The Council of Australasian University Directors of Information Technology (CAUDIT) is the peak body for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Higher Education and Research sectors.

CAUDIT brings together University and Research Institutions from across Australasia and the South Pacific. Each Member is represented by the most senior employee with strategic and operational responsibility for ICT within the organisation.

At the heart of CAUDIT is its role of supporting Member Representatives and their teams to thrive and innovate through the provision of broad-ranging services that foster collaboration, leadership and best practice among Members.

Three key strategies provide the focus for CAUDIT’s activities: connecting, enabling, and challenging our members.

CAUDIT History

Core Activities

Strategic Procurement

CAUDIT negotiates with ICT vendors on a sector-wide basis to derive maximum mutual value. We ensure that members have a good understanding of future technology roadmaps.

Professional Development

We help create the next generation of IT leaders through the CAUDIT Leadership Institute, CAUDIT Managers Program and other development opportunities.

Engaging our Membership

CAUDIT creates an environment whereby members and their staff can access information to support them in their role as IT Directors/CIOs.

Cybersecurity

CAUDIT leads, coordinates and provides cybersecurity services to members under the banner of the Australasian Higher Education Cybersecurity Services (AHECS).

Analytics

CAUDIT takes a questioning approach to IT practice within higher education by facilitating the collection of benchmarking data and member surveys.

Thought Leadership

We take a leadership role in developing the intellectual capital of the organisation and its members through a range of activities that encourage strategic thinking.

Connect

CAUDIT Members have ready access to connections, curated by CAUDIT, that invite a continuous exchange of expertise, ideas, and options. This orientation to collaboration is embedded in CAUDIT’s culture, structure, and work processes, intentionally linking ICT leaders and staff across CAUDIT Member institutions.

Enable

CAUDIT Members consistently express that a priority for transformation is the need to deepen technical, management, and leadership skills among ICT staff. CAUDIT responds with dynamic professional learning opportunities and Cybersecurity initiatives. CAUDIT’s strategic procurement approach enables CAUDIT Members to maximise benefits from digital assets. CAUDIT Members enable ICT staff to manage today’s service environment, and to prepare for tomorrow’s strategic complexities, through emphasising collaboration, enabling problem solving, and enhancing best practice.

Lead

CAUDIT’s collective voice helps members navigate decisions and challenges with confidence. Across the sector, CAUDIT recognises and shares current best practice, and curates collective foresight about challenges on the horizon. Members are encouraged and supported to lead the application of digital capabilities to transform education and research.

Support for National eResearch Services

DIISTRE provided project funding to enhance the AAF’s utility and hence drive broader research sector participation in the Federation.

CAUDIT Awards

The annual CAUDIT Awards highlight excellence and innovation across the higher education and eResearch sector.

The CAUDIT Awards recognise, celebrate and promote the outstanding achievements and innovation of staff at CAUDIT member organisations. These staff have applied digital capabilities to positively transform the experience of students, academics and professional staff across the sector.

CAUDIT Membership

Membership with CAUDIT is available to organisations and institutions which undertake or support education, research or research and development, including:

• Universities;

• Publicly funded research institutions; and

• other entities with demonstrable linkages recommended by the Executive Committee and agreed by a resolution of the Full Members.
